B6 ob RRID:IMSR_JAX:000632 From Jackson Labs: Mice homozygous for the obese spontaneous mutation, Lepob (commonly referred to as ob or ob/ob), exhibit obesity, hyperphagia, transient hyperglycemia, glucose intolerance, and elevated plasma insulin. They are also hypometabolic, hypothermic, and subfertile. Wound healing is impaired and hormone production from both pituitary and adrenal glands is increased. This strain is used to model phases I and II of diabetes type II and obesity. Obesity is characterized by an increase in the number and size of adipocytes. Although hyperphagia contributes to the obesity, homozygotes gain excess weight and deposit excess fat even when restricted to a diet sufficient for normal weight maintenance in lean mice. |

RNA-seq data of SRI-37330-treated human islets and controls GSE151588 SRI-37330 is an orally bioavailable, non-toxic small molecule which effectively rescued mice from streptozotocin- and obesity-induced (db/db) diabetes. The accession contains 3 treated human islet samples and 3 non-treated controls. |

NOR/LtJ RRID:IMSR_JAX:002050 From Jackson Labs: NOR/LtJ mice are insulitis resistant and diabetes free. NOR/LtJ mice still exhibit peripheral T-lymphocyte accumulation and defective peritoneal macrophage responses characteristic of NOD/ShiLtJ mice (Stock No. 001976). NOR/LtJ mice are matched at the diabetogenic H2g7 complex to NOD/ShiLtJ. In addition to serving as controls to the NOD/ShiLtJ strain, these mice are useful in studies of hearing loss. |
INS-1 beta-cells stably expressing human TXNIP (INS-TXNIP) INS-1 cells were transfected with promoter reporter constructs containing the full-length human TXNIP promoter as well as different deletions/mutations. |
